Pink Pigeon Mac Matte

Just like Candy Yum Yum, Pink Pigeon is too drying & patchy to be a $16 lipstick. I have WNW l/s that applies better. However I loved the color of Mac PP so went on the hunt for a quality dupe. Mac Pink Lipstick (Matte). A creamy rich Lipstick formula with high colour payoff in a no-shine matte finish. MAC Lipstick - the iconic product that made MAC famous. This creamy rich formula features high colour payoff in a no-shine matte.

Happy Christmas everyone! Today is Christmas all over the world. Here at AngSavvy.com, it’s not a White Christmas nor a Blue Christmas. Instead, it’s a Pink Christmas! Just because I’ve been into reds lately doesn’t mean that I’ll wear red lips both last night and today. Since I’ve already worn red yesterday, today I wanted to wear a pink lipstick. A bright pink! So I thought of MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick which I’ve only bought recently and had already worn quite a few times.

MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick had first been released as a Limited Edition. I had not been able to buy it, as well as Party Parrot, when it was released a few years ago. So I was so happy when it was repromoted as part of the Permanent line. I just wish that Party Parrot will also be repromoted, too.

What MAC says about their lipsticks:

Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M•A•C famous.

MAC PINK PIGEON LIPSTICK
Matte

MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick is classified as a bright cleanest pink with a matte finish. In the bullet, it looks like a medium blue-based pink. When swatched on my arm, it is evident how cool-toned this lippie really is. I believe that this color would work on all skin tones and undertones. It will just depend on whether you like blue-based pink lipsticks.

MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick is a bit pigmented. It is already semi-opaque with just 1 swipe. With 2 or more layers, more opaque coverage can be achieved.

Its texture is a bit creamy, making it really easy to apply. It glides easily and does not drag nor tug on the lips at all. It applies evenly across the lips and does not settle into lip lines. I didn’t experience any feathering, but if you’re prone to feathering, then you might want to line your lips first.

Pink Pigeon has a satin-matte finish, but after about an hour or two, the satin sheen is gone and it becomes a little bit more matte. You can also simply blot it with a clean tissue paper to get a more matte finish. I personally like to blot it because it looks better on me when it’s more matte and stain-like. I also like using it for gradation/gradient lips.

Application Tips:

☆ Exfoliate the lips well.
☆ Moisturize lips with a good lip balm. After 10 to 20 minutes, blot with a clean tissue paper to remove excess shine.
☆ Apply lip primer like MAC Prep+Prime Lip and wait for it to become tacky, about a minute.
☆ Then apply 1 layer of MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick then blot with a tissue.
☆ Apply a second layer of the lipstick and blot again.
☆ Finally, apply a third layer either on the whole lips or only on the center parts of the lips so it will appear fuller. Blot ever so lightly, just so it wouldn’t stain your teeth.

The color on my lips is a cool-toned bright medium pink. I love that it doesn’t suck the moisture from my lips although it’s not as long-lasting as my other MAC matte lipsticks. It lasts around 6 to 7 hours on my lips and after eating and drinking, reapplication is required.

Color and texture comparison from L-R:
A – MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick
B – MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick
C – NARS Michiyo Lipstick

I bought MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick for PhP1,000 from MAC in Mall of Asia. It is now part of the Permanent line of MAC’s lipsticks so I can use it up without fear of not being able to replace it because I can always buy more. Alternatively, it can also be bought here and here .

MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick has the same signature vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks. I have grown to love this scent and taste that I sometimes miss them when I’m using a different brand of lipstick.

This is a very pretty pink with just enough brightness that is not overpowering. It is obvious on my lips how cool-toned it is against the warmth of my skintone, that they seem to clash, but I still love it! Better than Candy Yum Yum, if you ask me. 😉

Have you tried MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick? Do you have a dupe for it?
